New Mazda BT-50: All you need to know

KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new Mazda BT-50 is currently on display at the Drive Virtual Auto Fair 2021 that will be running from 3rd to 5th December 2021. The automaker has opened the pickup’s ordering books, however, before you place an order here are all the details about the new BT-50. So, let’s get started -

Note the prices shown (west Malaysian) are on-the-road without insurance. They include a 5-Year Manufacturer Warranty according to manufacturer’s standards, with a 100,000 km mileage limit, whichever comes first.

New BT-50 engine

The Malaysian-spec BT-50 is offered in two engine options - the 1.9L Diesel engine and the 3.0L Diesel Engine. Both the mills are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that uses a compact gear-train structure, a high-response hydraulic control system, and the latest efficiency technologies.

The electronic control module is programmed to match with the torque delivery characteristics of the mill by selecting the best ratio,

New BT-50 design language

 

Mazda has built the BT-50 from the ground up, bringing Malaysian customers a car with tough looks, rugged capability, utmost comfort, and class-leading technology. The new pickup combines the brand’s iconic Kodo design language with muscular proportions, thus conveying a sense of bold and powerful movement.

At the front is present a prominent front grille and 3-dimensional signature wing that establishes a commanding view and dominating road presence. The sweeping crease lines running from the grille out towards the wing mirrors and the unbroken centre line from front to the rear adds to the car’s looks.

Overall, the BT-50’s unique design language expresses power, toughness, and functionality. Furthermore, the distinct and sharp headlights take cues from the company’s SUV range and give us a deep gaze into Mazda’s characteristics.

At the rear, the taillight is the key design point and is shaped to flow towards the Mazda badge. The boot space can handle payloads well under one tone.
