New Made-in-Malaysia Atlas automotive OS: All you need to know

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian tech company ACO Tech, which specialises in developing Connected Cars applications and solutions, has finally launched an all-new operating system called ATLAS (ACO Tech Local Automotive Services). Made by Malaysians for Malaysians, this new system has a more practical user interface than Proton’s GKUI system.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Which Proton cars feature the new ATLAS OS?

ACO Tech has installed the Atlas OS in more than 10k cars so far, including Proton Persona and Proton Iriz. However, the X50 is expected to get it soon.
  • When will ATLAS Pay roll out?

The in-car payment system, ATLAS Pay, will be rolled out by the fourth quarter of this year.
  • What services does the new ATLAS automotive operating system offer? Let’s know.

    Infotainment & more

This locally-developed ATLAS OS runs on the open-source Android 10 platform and above. Besides infotainment services, it has voice command features, smart navigation, personalised functions, and an online store (A-Store).

    Car-based digital wallet system

For the new system, ACO Tech has entered into a strategic partnership with UOB Malaysia and Fass Payment Solutions (Fasspay) to offer the users a car-based digital wallet system and an in-car payment system. This will allow users to make money transactions securely without leaving their cars. The service will be rolled out by the fourth quarter of this year as ATLAS Pay.

    Hassle-free driving experience

The tech company has also joined hands with Five Petroleum Malaysia to provide a seamless refuelling experience to the customers at all Five petrol stations worldwide. The latter will also offer automotive-related support via its wide network of approved service providers and automotive merchants.

    Connected tech

The new ATLAS OS incorporates an automotive ecosystem of connected software and hardware technologies. It includes an in-vehicle infotainment unit, a mobile app called Atlas Auto, and human-touch communications. The latter will comprise a wearable device connecting the vehicle and the mobile app featuring telematics functionality, social networking, info on brand promotion, maintenance reminders, etc.

    Cloud-based solutions

The tech firm has also expanded its association with Huawei Technologies. Under which, they will work on developing cloud-based solutions for regional markets. The companies will accelerate innovations for big data and artificial intelligence to further promote the adoption of smart mobility.

    New audio streaming experience

A global partnership for a new and better audio streaming experience is also in the pipeline and will be announced soon, confirms ACO Tech.

So far, the company has installed Atlas OS in more than 10k cars, including Proton Persona and Proton Iriz. However, the X50 is expected to get it soon.
