New Hyundai Sonata all set for an astounding launch
KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai has been teasing its newest offering for quite some time now and finally, it is all set to amaze the world with its Sonata before the year-end. The South Korean manufacturer has intricately designed the new Sonata to have it claim the top position in the D-segment sedans. Now in its eighth generation, the new Sonata will lock horns with the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Volkswagen Passat in terms of ergonomics and functional design.
Under the chassis, the new Sonata derives its power from a new Smart-stream G2.5 MPI engine. The best feature of this engine being its naturally aspirated petrol four-cylinder which sparks 180 PS at 6,000 rpm and 232 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, all of flows through a six-speed automatic gearbox and offering power to the front wheels.
The very elated Mr. Low Yuan Lung, Managing Director of Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) said in an interview that the new Hyundai Sonata will be the best D-segment sedan version in its lineage and its sales figures will definitely surge in markets across the globe. With its looks, Sonata is sure to set an exception amongst the D-segment sedans from Hyundai motors so far. Having the best designers and innovators at work like Luc Donckerwolke and SangYup Lee, the South Korean automaker is offering Sonata that is sure to stand out from the crowd.
Donning a mesmerizing layout, the Sonata has a very appealing sensuous sportiness exterior design. The coupe-like roofline, and curvaceous lines across the body contouring, makes this a perfect sedan for the business executives, having both a sleek and sporty appeal. The front fascia is beautified with an aggressive grille along with trapezoidal-shaped LED headlights. The chrome garnished bonnet steps neatly cover the LED daytime running lights which when turned off, does not seem to have been placed at the face, hiding behind the laser aperture.
Contemporary features of the new Sonata include a six-speed automatic transmission with shift-by-wire technology, hidden lighting lamp architecture, and wireless phone charging with automatic cooling function.
Coming from the house of Hyundai, the safety features in this newest offering are top-notch. Sonata is acclaimed to be one of the safest cars in the world. Under the chassis, it is built with Hyundai’s proprietary Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS). The steel is highly robust and vigorous. This prominent feature is not found in other D-segment models. The car also has blind-spot monitoring with a live video feature that directly displays the field view on the digital gauge cluster, to assist the drivers. Additionally, it also has six airbags, and stability control but the absence of a Smart-sense suite for driver assistance is a downside.
Sonata has bagged several awards in the US, which include “Best Car for Teens” by US News and World Report, “2020 Best Auto Tech Award” by Kelly Blue Book, 2020 NHTSA 5-star Overall Rating, MotorWeek’s “2020 Drivers’ Choice Award” for Best Family Sedan and Wards “10 Best User Experience Award”. Enthusiastic sedan lovers can now book the car with a fee of RM 888 at all Hyundai Showrooms. Hyundai is yet to reveal the price tag for this stylish beauty, but we expect it would let loose your pocket a little more.
