New Genesis G70 Shooting Brake to debut at 2021 Goodwood
KUALA LUMPUR: The new Genesis G70 Shooting Brake was introduced back in May. Back then the automaker promised to reveal more info in the coming months and it seems the time has come. Yes, Hyundai’s luxury arm is coming to the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed with its new long roof offering.
Along with the G70 Shooting Brake’s public debut at Goodwood, onlookers would get to witness the automaker’s striking X electric concept.
Dominique Boesch, managing director for Genesis Motor Europe said, "Honoring the region is so important to Genesis, which is why we chose to debut both vehicles at the distinguished British festival”. He further added, "In particular, the G70 Shooting Brake recognizes the automotive heritage of Europe in both name and iconic design, unmistakably demonstrating the brand’s commitment to the region."
Now, spectators might question the G70’s ‘shooting brake’ label. Why? Well, according to traditional definition ‘shooting brake; refers to two-door cars with long bonnet and fenders. Also, there is more space between the front of the door and wheel arches compared to the rear door. Four door cars with long roofs such as the one we see above usually are referred to as station wagons or estate.
Put it under ‘shooting brake’ or any other category, there’s no doubt that the G70 is a striking looking car with a sporty presence. It offers 40% more cabin space compared to the sedan with a split rear folding seat taking up most of the area.
Other details like G70 Shooting Brake powertian, specs, safety equipment are expected to be revealed during its Goodwood debut.
The 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed is scheduled for 8 to 11 July with a full capacity crowd. It will run as a Government pilot event amidst the extended COVID-19 restrictions.
