New BMW EV charging station at Langkawi Island; two 11 kW AC chargers
KUALA LUMPUR: The EV market is expanding globally with automakers (high-end to mass-market) launching fully-electric cars every now and then. Even Proton is under plans to build its own EV and will send a team of 16 engineers to China for R&D. Located at The Datai Langkawi, a 5-star beach resort on Langkawi Island, the two 11kW AC BMW i Wallbox Gen 2 charging stations are positioned inside a wooden enclosure.
“BMW Group Malaysia has always believed that sustainability is a shared responsibility. As we continue to realize our vision of carbon-neutral mobility in Malaysia through our premium fully electric BMW i vehicles and the expansion of our comprehensive BMW i Charging network, we are pleased to collaborate with like-minded partners, such as The Datai Langkawi – alongside our dealer, Tian Siang Premium Auto,” said Sashi Ambi, BMW Group Malaysia Head of Corporate Communications.
He added, “This partnership underlines our commitment to providing a Premium Electric Ownership Experience to all-electric vehicle (EV) owners across the country – an experience that exemplifies sustainable luxury and is in tandem with our national agenda for electrification in Malaysia.”
Tian Siang Premium Auto is equally excited about the new BMW i Charging facilities. The company’s Managing Director, Tan Ka Kin was also present at the resort and said, “With the new BMW i Charging facilities introduced today, we are thrilled to be powering a total of 12 premium charging facilities across the northern regions of Malaysia – bringing greater access to electromobility in major locations outside the Klang Valley. This gives us confidence that interest in EVs in these regions will continue to rise as we work to present Sheer Electric Driving Pleasure to our customers here.”
As for the 5-star resort, The Datai Langkawi which speaks highly of sustainability and conservation of nature welcomed the new addition to the property with open arms.
