New Alfa Romeo GTV image surfaced online; expected to debut in 2022
KUALA LUMPUR: A recently leaked image from an Alfa Romeo’s event suggests that the Italian luxury automaker is working on a new GTV. The GTV is a performance car and the new model expected to unveil in 2021 as a concept, which will be followed by its production.
Back in June 2018, Alfa declared its four-year roadmap, which shows that the year 2022 will witness the arrival of a number of vehicles. The automaker also revealed its ambitious plans to expand its market coverage from 46% to 71%. This broad roadmap also includes the return of GTV (Gran Turismo Veloce), this vehicle will be a part of Alfa’s line of ‘specialty’ vehicles. Besides GTV, Alfa had also provided details about the restoration of 8C. The 8C will be a plug-in hybrid car, and as per the company, it will deliver a massive power of 700 hp.
Coming back to the vehicle in consideration, GTV is a two-door, four-seater coupe and will come with 50:50 weight distribution. The vehicle will be based on the Giorgio modular platform, which is also shared by the Stelvio and Giulia.
At the engine front, the couple is said to be equipped with a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V6 engine that is coupled with an electric motor. The mill will be capable of delivering a maximum power output of 600 hp, which is 95 hp more than what the Giulia Quadrifoglio delivers. This concludes that GTV could be a plug-in hybrid model with an electric range of up to 50 km. Moreover, the vehicle will also get an all-wheel drive layout as standard.
It is expected that the new GTV could be manufactured at Fiat Chrysler’s plant in Cassino, Italy.
