Neta set to launch first EV in Malaysia next month; partners with Intro Synergy
KUALA LUMPUR: After Great Wall Motors and BYD, another promising EV brand from China called NETA is set to enter the local shores. Owned by Zhejiang-based Hozon Auto New Energy, the upcoming brand has appointed Intro Synergy as its local distributor for five years, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of GoAuto Group Sdn Bhd.

The Neta V launch in Malaysia will be held at Malaysia Auto Show 2023 to be held from May 4 to May 7, 2023.The group and its partners will invest an approximate amount of RM 300 million for the development of NEV (new energy vehicles) manufacturing and assembly facilities, sales, and after-sales networks in Malaysia.
“We are excited to announce our partnership with Neta, which will enable us to bring our innovative electric vehicles at affordable and competitive prices to more customers in Malaysia. We hope that this brand will be well received by the public and further boost EV acceptance in the country,” said GoAuto group chairman Datuk SM Azli SM Nasimuddin Kamal.
Alongside announcing the official distributor, the automaker has also confirmed the launch timeline of its first EV, the Neta V. It will break cover at Malaysia Auto Show 2023 to be held from May 4 to May 7, 2023.
While the specifications of the local-spec model are not available at the moment, we can refer to the version available in China for a brief idea -
- The Neta V is an electric hatchback based on the HPC platform
- It is powered by a front-mounted electric motor that delivers a maximum power of 95 PS along with a peak torque of 150 Nm
- The motor is fed by a 38.5-kWh lithium-ion battery offering a range of 384 km (on the NEDC cycle)
- The EV supports both DC and AC charging systems; the 100 kW DC charger offers 30-80% SoC in just 30 minutes, while the 6.6 kW AC takes eight hours for 100% juice up
- Parts of the China-spec Neta V feature kit are projector headlamps, LED rear lights, 16-inch alloys, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch infotainment unit, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an electronic parking brake, synthetic leather upholstery, a keyless entry and start, 4-way powered front seats, and more.
