Neta grabs 100 bookings for first EV; likely to bring two more EVs in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: After BYD and GWM, one more Chinese electric vehicle brand, called Neta, marked its entry on Malaysian soil during the Malaysia Auto Show 2023. Owned by Hozon Hozon New Energy Automobile, the EV maker presented the Neta V at the event, which is an electric hatchback sized similarly to the Toyota Yaris. 

The automaker offers the EV in a sole variant, priced at RM 99,800 (on-the-road, without insurance). A special cash rebate of RM 10,000 was also available for customers placing reservations for the EV at the show. This helped the automaker collect a total of 100 bookings during the event.

We are grateful to Puan Muhaya Salleh, for being our hundredth customer, and we look forward to delivering her NETA V soon", said Mohd Norazli Mohd Salleh, Group Chief Strategy Officer of the GoAuto Group.

The NETA V diecast model is also presented to the 100th customer by the automaker to mark the exciting moment of the hundredth booking.

In terms of specifications, the Neta V is equipped with a front-mounted electric motor that churns out a maximum power of 95 hp and a peak torque of 150 Nm. The motor is fed by a 38.5-kWh battery pack offering a total range of 380 km (on the NEDC cycle) on a single charge. As for the latter, it supports both AC as well as DC charging. The 100 kW DC charging can juice up the battery from 30% to 80% in 30 minutes.

The deliveries of the EV will commence in the quarter of this year, confirmed the marque’s local distributor Intro Synergy.

According to the latest reports, after the Neta V, the Chinese automaker is likely to introduce two more EVs in the local market viz, the Neta U and Neta S.

Neta U is an electric crossover that comes powered by a dual-motor setup in two different configurations. The lower configuration model generates 163 PS of power and 210 Nm of torque, while the higher one is good for making 231 PS and 310 Nm. Two battery options are - 54.32 and 81.57 kWh, providing the EV with a cruising range of up to 401 and 610 km, respectively. 

Neta S, on the other hand, is a stylish electric sedan with gullwing doors. It also houses two electric motors with either a rear-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive setup. With battery capacities ranging between 43.51 kWh and 91 kWh, the EV offers a range of 310 km to 715 km on a single charge.
