KUALA LUMPUR: Today, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) officially launched the sixth-generation Mitsubishi Triton pickup truck. Thus marking a major milestone in the company's automotive innovation.

 

Available in five distinct variants, the all-new Triton has been designed to meet the diverse needs of Malaysians, from business owners to adventure enthusiasts. With enhanced performance, cutting-edge technology, and a bold design, the Triton is set to redefine the pickup truck segment in Malaysia.

The all-new Mitsubishi Triton comes in the following five variants namely, Single, MT, AT GL, AT, and Athlete. They are priced as follows around different regions of the country -

Chassis

The all-new Triton is built on frame chassis which offers better durability and reliability. Crafted from high-tensile materials, the chassis ensures that the Triton can withstand even the toughest terrains. Other benefits of the new frame include -

Powertrain & Transmission

 

Powering the all-new Triton is a Hyperpower 4N16 diesel engine with high-output specifications.

The power is sent to the wheels via either a six-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual unit. While the former features the highly acclaimed Sport mode, the latter is designed to minimize vibrations.

Exterior

The all-new Triton embodies Mitsubishi’s robust design along with the toughness expected from a pickup truck.

 

Here are some of its key design elements -

• The front fascia reflects the automaker’s Dynamic Shield design concept that evokes a sense of strength and protection via its three-dimensional front grille and accentuated fenders.
• Daytime running light with three L-shaped LED lights resembling a hawk’s gaze. The lighting units also include three-dimensional, three-light headlights, and T-shaped taillights.

Interior

The truck’s interior is a blend of modern design with practicality. It features a stunning design concept that showcases clean, geometric shapes and metallic elements creating a high-contrast space.

Some of its key elements include -

• Generously sized glove box, smartphone holder, and other storage areas
• The instrument panel and center console feature USB sockets for charging devices
• Wireless charger at the bottom of the dashboard

Handling

The all-new Triton features a newly developed suspension system called the Super Select 4WD-II, for a smoother ride and better handling. Available exclusively with the high-spec Athlete model, the system offers highly versatile road performance with options for various drive modes, including Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock. Also, part of the kit is the Active Yaw Control (AYC) system which further improves handling, especially during cornering.

 

The remaining four variants feature the Easy Select 4WD system, allowing drivers to shift between 2H, 4H, and 4L modes based on driving conditions.

Safety

In terms of safety, selected Triton variants come with Mitsubishi Motors Safety Sensing (MMSS), a comprehensive suite of features such as:

• Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM)
• Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
• Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
• Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist
