Mercedes-Benz Malaysia will expand its diesel models portfolio!
Kuala Lumpur: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn Bhd, which announced yesterday that it achieved a record sales of 3,033 vehicles in its third quarter ended Sept 30, gave assurance that there will be an expansion in diesel model range in Malaysia.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia vice-president of sales and marketing Mark Raine said the company is planning to deal with more diesel models to its local range, to which they are not afraid of taking any step regarding the topic. The combination of diesel powertrains under the hood of Mercedes-Benz vehicles will be shortly seen running on the roads of Malaysia, as per indications given by Raine.
“We are very happy with the success of the E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid, as you can tell from the results we’ve just shown you. This tells us that Malaysians are generally accepting of diesel models,” Raine said.

Enquiring further about the model name which is going to be launched as per plan, Raine responded, “As you can see, we’ve got the limousines (sedans), the Dream Cars, and in the future, as you know, we will also have the SUVs. We will be bringing diesel across all three segments.”
Talking about the diesel models launched till date, MBM has remained faithful to this economical line-up with its 2.1-litre turbodiesel engine and internally tested W204 C 220 CDI. Later on, MBM gave confirmation about the power output this engine model would give, churning out a total of 170 PS and 400 Nm of torque.

The first model name with such powertrain was the E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid, a car we know to have enjoyed immense success lately, as confirmed by this morning's press conference. To this Mercedes-Benz diesel model, a 2.1-litre of engine unit was powered that generated maximum power output of 204 HP and 500 Nm of torque. Although, there are variations in the hybrid powertrain figures for the vehicle which we can ignore as of now, taking into consideration just the diesel vehicles as our prime focus.
The next take of MBM to the line-up was V-Class V 220 CDI, equipped with a 2.1-litre engine that delivers 163 HP and 380 Nm of torque. Also, there is existing XJ L 2.0-litre Ti Luxury, which is powered with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine to which there is a possibility of coming up with its diesel variant option.
After successful diesel models launch by MBM, we can also look after the SUV diesel vehicles as a surprise for local residents as company's next take.

Asking about the S 300 BlueTEC Hybrid and how the brand’s local customers may take to a four-cylinder diesel S-Class, MBM vice president said, “I think that (S 300 BlueTEC Hybrid) definitely has the potential to do well here. At the moment, we’ve put our money on the S 400 L Hybrid, which has been a very good move for us based on the success we’ve had so far. We are, however, constantly revising where we can bring additional products to our portfolio.”
“When I look at it at a global level, and also a regional one, yes, I definitely think an S 300 BlueTEC Hybrid could do well here. Also, looking at other cars we have powered similarly to the engine, the E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid, and it looks like the acceptance has been great,” he added.
