Yes. The all-wheel-drive variants come with a new 'Off Road' driving mode, wherein the power distribution between the axles is optimised for rough terrains, unpaved roads, and inclines.
  • Let's inspect the Mercedes flagship SUV via its impressive images -

    Mercedes-Benz EQS platform

Like the Mercedes-Benz EQE and EQS sedan, the all-new EQS SUV sits on the brand's dedicated electric vehicle architecture (EVA) platform. The EVA is good enough to support four-wheel-drive, single-motor, rear-wheel-drive & dual motor layouts.

    Mercedes-Benz EQS dimensions

The EQS SUV measures 5,125 mm in length, 1,959 mm in width, and 1,718 mm in height, thus making it shorter (by 82 mm), wider (by 3 mm), and lower (105 mm) than the GLS SUV. Also, compared to its combustion-engine-powered sibling, it enjoys a 75 mm longer wheelbase at 3,210 mm.

    Mercedes-Benz EQS design

The EVs exterior draws heavily on the smooth design that was first seen on the EQC SUV three years ago. The same design theme is also reflected in the more recent EQE and EQS. A few design highlights include - a blanked-off black panel grille, angular LED headlights, horizontal LED light bar, and flush handles, to name a few.

    EQS SUV

Like the EQE and EQS sedan, the EQS SUV features a large clamshell-style bonnet that only opens up during servicing. The filler for the windscreen washer is placed on the driver-side panel.

    Mercedes-Benz EQS cabin

On the inside, the high-mounted dashboard comes equipped with an individual 12.8-inch portrait-style infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as standard. The range-topping 580 4MATIC variant comes with the MBUX Hyperscreen, a three-screen system (12.3-inch front passenger screens, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and a 17.7-inch central infotainment display) that merges to appear as a single 56-inch display with glass-resistant glass.

    Mercedes-Benz EQS Hyperscreen

The said Hyperscreen operates on an eight-core processor and comes with 24GB of RAM. It also supports the conventional 'Hey Mercedes' speech command, and its software gets updated over-the-air.

    Mercedes-Benz EQS features

As expected from a luxury car of its stature, the EQS packs several comforting features. The list includes a multi-zone climate control with an air purification and scent system, optional panoramic glass roof, heated and cooled front seats, a premium Burmeister Dolby Atmos sound system, and more.

    Mercedes-Benz EQS third-row

The automaker offers the EQS SUV with an optional third-row that extends the seating space to seven. The legroom and knee room are good for full-size adults.

    2022 Merceds-Benz EQS SUV space

The new Mercedes-Benz EV SUV model offers a luggage space of 195-litres.

    Mercedes-Benz EQS battery

The 107.8 kWh battery pack sits between the wheels and offers both single and dual motor setups. The former sends the drives to the rear wheels and is the most energy-efficient one with up to 660 km of range. As for the dual-motor setup, it comes with an all-wheel drivetrain and claims a range of up to 613 km.

The 450+ variant in the rear-wheel-drive option generates 360 PS and 568 Nm of torque; the same variant with all-wheel drive configuration tops 800 Nm of torque. As for the range-topping 580 4MATIC, it pumps out a maximum power of 544 PS along with a peak torque of 858 Nm.

The all-wheel-drive variants come with a new 'Off Road' driving mode, wherein the power distribution between the axles is optimised for rough terrains, unpaved roads, and inclines.

    Mercedes-Benz AirMatic air springs

Mercedes-Benz's latest EV offers a smooth ride quality thanks to the four-link front and multi-link rear suspension system. It features the brand's AirMatic air springs and variable damping control.

The EV's ride height raises up to 25 mm at speeds up to 80 kmph, and at speeds above 109 kmph the ride height automatically reduces by 10mm and 15 mm in Comfort and Sport mode, respectively.

    Mercedes-Benz EQS safety

The EQS packs an extensive safety kit that includes several driver assistant features along with over six airbags, automated parking assists, and a 360-degree camera view.
