Meet the outrageous Bentley Continental GT3 Pikes Peak

KUALA LUMPUR: The annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is one of Bentley’s favorite automobile summits. The automaker currently holds the record for the fastest production car and fastest SUV to scale 4,800 feet, 20 kilometers, 156-corner ascent in Colorado. And for 2021, Bentley aims for the ‘Time Attack 1’ record, this one is a category for specialized and modified production-two and four-wheel drive vehicles.

So, which modified production car is Bentley sending to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb? Well, meet the stunning and powerful Continental GT3 Pikes Peak.

Who will drive the Bentley beast?

Pikes Peak legend Rhys Millen will take on the wheels behind the modified GT3 race car. This time he aims to beat David Donner’s last year record of 9:36:559 that he achieved in Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport.

Bentley Continental GT3 highlights -

As per the automaker, Bentley Continental GT3 is the most extreme iteration of the model, in that case of any Bentley road car ever. It features a number of aero enhancements specifically designed and engineered to work at such great altitudes. The car also features the biggest rear wing ever fitted in a Bentley car.

Powering the Continental GT3 is a 4.0-litre turbo mill that has been fettled to run on biofuel, thus cutting GHG emission by 85 percent. Speaking of which, Bentley will offer hybrid versions of all its models by 2023 and the company will go all-electric by 2030.

Bentley says “This first step marks the start of a longer programme that will investigate both biofuels and e-fuels for their potential to power the Bentleys of past and present in a sustainable way.”

The Bentley Continental GT3 is currently undergoing development and testing in the UK, latter it will be exported to the United States in June.
