Fastest BMW M ever
The all-new BMW M4 CSL is the fastest series-production BMW. It has set a record by completing the 20.832-km longer Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in just 7 minutes 20.207 seconds.
Power-packed
The credit for this impressive lap time goes to the car's increased firepower. It runs on a 3.0 litre twin-turbo straight-six that delivers a maximum power output of 550 PS (40 PS more than the regular M4) and a peak torque of 650 Nm. Extra grunt comes from the improved charge pressure of the two mono-scroll turbochargers, an indirect intercooler, and specially designed compressors.
The power is channeled to the rear wheels via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission paired with Drivelogic.
Exhilarating acceleration
The car has set a record on the track, and it does not fall short on the road as well. It takes 3.7 seconds to run from a standstill to 100 kmph, and 10.7 seconds to hit the 200 kmph mark. These numbers are 0.2 seconds and 1.8 seconds quicker than the regular M4. When it comes to the BMW M4 CSL top speed, the car can easily cruise up to 307 kmph.
Lighter than the M4 Competition
As the name suggests, the new BMW CSL is also lighter. It weighs 1,625 kg, i.e.100 kg less than the M4 Competition, thanks to measures taken by the designers to shed the weight. It includes -
- M Carbon full bucket seats on the front
- Removal of rear seats
- Bonnet, splitters, and boot lid made from CFRP (carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer)
- Interior components, including the central console made from CFRP
- Lightweight sound insulation
- M Carbon ceramic brakes
- Light-alloy wheels, springs, and struts
Restyled exterior and interior
The changes are not just limited to the mechanical stuff, as we can see a number of sporty touches inside out. These comprise red accents on the grille surround, splitter, skirts, and brake calipers, and red detailing across the bonnet and roof. The car also sports the BMW M's 50th-anniversary badges.
Available colour choices are Alpine White, Frozen Brooklyn Grey, and Sapphire Black.
Inside, the car is exclusively equipped with bucket seats, an M Alcantara steering wheel, plenty of red accents, CSL badges, and a place to accommodate two helmets on the rear.
Limited to 1000 units
BMW will make only 1000 units of this fastest and power-packed M4 CSL, with production set to commence in July this year.
