Meet Renault’s new rugged EV concept, the 4EVer Trophy
KUALA LUMPUR: Last year, Renault introduced the Renault 5 in the form of an EV prototype, previewing the future production model. And now, the French automaker has come up with another EV concept, which marks the return of its other long-running nameplate, the Renault 4.

The production version of the Renault 4EVer Trophy is scheduled to launch in 2025.Dubbed as the 4EVer Trophy, the new concept model is currently on display at the ongoing 2022 Paris Motor Show. The name of the EV is taken from the 4L Trophy humanitarian rally, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2023. For those who are not familiar with, the 4L Trophy is a yearly humanitarian rally across the Moroccan desert exclusively reserved for Renault 4 cars.
True to its name, the EV concept is kitted with a bold off-road-themed body kit while retaining the original hatchback’s proportions. There are plenty of black cladding and aggressive detailings such as prominent lash-down hoops on the hood, a chunky bumper, and a gloss black strip incorporating circular LED headlights. It is sprayed with Gun Metal Silver and rolls on 19-inch wheels shod with 255/55 R19 tyres.
While commenting on the Renault 4Ever Trophy design, Gilles Vidal, VP, Renault Brand, Design said, "To bring 4EVER Trophy into the modern era, we have infused its streamlined shape with technological sophistication. All these ingredients have been carefully crafted so that the design resonates with those who are familiar with the 4L and its illustrious history, and with younger generations."
Just like the Renault 5 concept, the 4EVer Trophy is also based on the CMF-BEV architecture. It measures 4,160 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, 1,900 mm in height and has a 2,570 mm long wheelbase.
The EV is powered by an electric motor positioned on the front axle generating a maximum output of 134 hp. The motor is fed by a 42-kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese battery, which is expected to deliver a driving range of 402 km. As for performance, the automaker mentioned a 0-100 kmph time of less than 10 seconds.
The production version of the electric SUV is scheduled to launch in 2025.
