KUALA LUMPUR: McLaren has pulled the wraps off the all-new Artura Spider, the convertible version of the Artura supercar introduced in 2021. The luxury automaker has not only chopped the roof of the supercar but has also introduced several new updates, making the supercar even more enticing for enthusiasts.

The dry weight of the supercar is just 1,457 kg, and its kerb weight stands at only 1,560 kg (62 kg more than the Artura coupe), making it the lightest option among convertible competitors.
The Artura convertible packs an upgraded version of 3.0-litre V-6 engine and an electric motor delivering a maximum power of 700 PS and a peak torque of 720 Nm. The power is up by almost 20 PS over the setup introduced with the coupe model. It is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that features a revised calibration and new pre-fill system delivering 25% faster gearshifts. Also part of the kit is a 7.4 kWh battery pack, which offers an all-electric range of 30 km.
Performance-wise, the Artura Spider runs from zero to 100 kmph in 3 seconds, 0-200 kmph in 8.4 seconds, and from 0-300 kmph in 21.6 seconds, before topping out at 320 kmph.
In terms of hardware upgrades, the car benefits from carbon-ceramic brake rotors paired with recalibrated ABS, lightweight aluminium callipers, and revised cooling ducts.

The order books for the McLaren Artura Spider are now open in Europe, with deliveries slated to begin in the middle of the year. The price begins at £221,500 (approximately equal to RM 1,340,204). For comparison, the Artura coupe retails at RM 1,050,000 in Malaysia.
