Meet Honda S7: A sleek EV packed with luxury and smart tech

KUALA LUMPUR: With an ambitious target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, Honda introduced a range of electric vehicle concepts (S7, P7, and GT) in 2024 under its new China-only ‘Ye’ sub-brand.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much does the Honda S7 cost?

The Honda S7 EV price in China begins at CNY 259,900 (approx RM 159k).
  • What are the rivals of the Honda S7?

Tesla Model Y, Zeekr 7X, Xpeng G6, and BYD Sealion are among the key rivals of the Honda S7.

    Dimensions

The Honda S7 measures 4,750 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width, and 1,625 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,930 mm. While the overall size of the new Honda EV is similar to that of a compact SUV, the 2,930 mm long wheelbase puts it into the mid-size SUV category. And thus, it promises exceptional interior space and ride comfort.

    Exterior

Design-wise, the EV reflects its unique style with an emotional appeal. The front fascia looks absolutely stunning with a thin LED bar, large Y-shaped headlights, and a large air intake on the bumper. Adding to the style are a sleek roofline, retractable door handles, and five-spoke wheels.

The rear looks equally impressive with a large roof spoiler and vertically aligned taillights connected with an LED strip. In place of traditional wing mirrors, cameras and screens are mounted on the doors.

    Chassis

Built by the Dongfeng-Honda JV, the S7 underpins Honda’s Architecture W and boasts a 40,000 Nm/degree torsional rigidity. The chassis has a continuous damping control system with a double wishbone independent suspension at the front and a five-link independent unit at the rear.
