Meet Hans de Visser, BMW Malaysia's newly appointed MD, CEO

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, BMW Malaysia has a new managing director and CEO on board. Effective from May 1, 2021, the position will be handed over to Hans de Visser. He replaces Harald Hoelzl who was appointed by the automaker back in 2018.

Hans de Visser is not a new name in the BMW Group, as he has served the automaker for over 29 years. His first job was that of a marketing communication manager at BMW Motorrad in Munich. His latest responsibility was that of a marketing director at BMW Russia. He has also had wide experience in sales and marketing, as he has taken up duties in the area in several markets including Spain, Middle East, Central Eastern Europe, and Munich.

 

Hendrik von Kuenheim, senior vice-president of Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East, Africa at BMW Group on Hans capability said, “Hans’ broad experience in various roles in marketing and sales, as well as his international background will be extremely valuable in his new position".

As for the departing Harald Hoelzl, he will be taking up a new role for the Group in Vienna, Austria. But before that, he'll be accompanying Visser for a good two months. A great learning experience for Visser, as under Hoelzl leadership BMW Malaysia touched new highs. For instance, the company occupied the top spot in the premium segment with 52% market share in 2020. Furthermore, the automaker also achieved over 90 percent customer satisfaction response last year. Not to forget, it also became the local premium assembler and leading electric mobility provider in the premium segment.

As for Harold, Kuenheim said, “I also want to take the opportunity to thank Harald for his work over the last few years in Malaysia. He and his team made BMW number one in the segment and strengthened the position of the company in the country.”

We hope that under the new leadership, the automaker empire continues to thrive more than ever.
