KUALA LUMPUR: Ferrari has finally ended the mystery of its upcoming model with the reveal of the all-new Roma Spider. The latest luxury car is the first soft-top convertible from the House of Prancing Horse after the Ferrari F430 Spider that was introduced in 1969. Thus, it weighs 84 kg more than the standard coupe that tips the scales at 1,570 kg. Made from a five-layered bespoke fabric, the roof can be opened in 13.5 seconds at vehicle speeds of up to 59 kmph.
Powering the Ferrari Roma Spider is a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine found on the coupe model. The said mill kicks out a maximum power of 612 hp at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 760 Nm. The power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. In terms of performance, this convertible Ferrari runs from zero to 100 kmph in 3.4 seconds and clocks a top speed of 320 kmph.
Among the other key exterior highlights of the Roma Spider are a body-coloured mesh grille, LED headlights, flush-mounted door handles, a rear diffuser, LED tail lights, and a four-tailpipe exhaust system.
The luxurious cabin features a portrait-style 8.4-inch infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a multifunctional steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls, an illuminated start button, a mix of leather and suede upholstery, and 18-way adjustable seats with optional neck warmers. Also available as an optional feature is a slender 8.8-inch display for the passenger.
Ferrari is yet to reveal the pricing and availability details of the new Roma Spider.
