KUALA LUMPUR: The performance luxury automakers such as Porsche, Lamborghini, and Aston Martin have taken the SUV road a few years back, which turned out as a highly profitable strategy for each of those brands. Let’s dive deeper to know more about this new Italian beauty -
Ferrari Purosangue exterior
In terms of design, the Ferrari Purosangue looks more striking than an average super SUV. Its lower roof makes it look like a Ferrari sports car on stilts. Adding to its eye-catching silhouette are a long hood, shapely roofline, and tight-fitting tail. On the bonnet edges, we can observe an 'aerobridge', which is a key part of the car’s aero package. Also, the larger elements are crafted in a way to minimise drag and optimise airflow.
The unmatched aesthetics of the Purosangue boasts a split headlamp arrangement for the upper LED DRLs with the main headlamps placed lower down between large air ducts. Other stunning appointments are rear-hinged doors, unusual “floating” wheel arch trim with 22-inch front and 23-inch rear wheels, a rear diffuser panel, and quad exhaust tailpipes.
Ferrari Purosangue dimensions
Speaking about the dimensions, the Ferrari’s new SUV measures 4973 mm in length, 2028 mm in width, 1589 mm in height, and rides on a 3018 mm long wheelbase. The boot space is rated at 473 litres, which can be expanded by folding rear seats.
Ferrari Purosangue interior
Inside, the new Ferrari Purosangue gives a vibe of the 296 GTB with no large central touchscreen, rather both driver and front passenger have their individual large display screens. The steering wheel is kitted with a Mannetino drive-mode controller and a few more buttons and knobs.
The four-seater cabin comes wrapped in various combinations of leather, Alcantara, and carbon-fibre trims taking the elegance to the next level. The customers also get a carbon-fibre roof as standard with an optional glass roof featuring electrochromic tint adjustments.
Ferrari Purosangue engine, performance, and handling
Powering this Italian beast is 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine which churns out a maximum power of 725 hp at 7750 rpm, and a peak torque of 716 Nm at 6250 rpm. The power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
With a dry weight of 2033 kg, the car runs from zero to 100 kmph in just 3.3 seconds and hits the 200 kmph mark in 10.6 seconds. The top speed is rated at 310 kmph. Helping it stop are carbon ceramic brakes delivering eyeball-popping performance, says Ferrari. The suspension duties are handled by a new 48V active suspension setup from Multimatic.
Ferrari will start delivering the new Purosangue in Europe in Q2 2023, however, the right-hand markets like Malaysia are expected to get it in the latter half of the year.
