McLaren GT makes its official debut in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: McLaren GT has officially made its debut in Malaysia at a grand opening event of McLaren Kuala Lumpur’s new 3S centre, which is located in Glenmarie. The outlet measures 420 sq metres and is the sole retail outlet of the brand present in Malaysia. This outlet will be offering sales, accessories, aftersales, and servicing of all McLaren vehicles.
Moving back to the main attraction, i.e. the GT, which is the carmaker’s first-ever car to debut under the Grand Tourer range of vehicles. This car has been built from scratch in order to provide more significant practicality and has been supported by the brand’s lightweight carbon-fibre MonoCell II-T (for Touring) monocoque.
It gets the stalwart M840TE twin-turbocharged 4.0 litre V8, which makes it sits in the mid-engined car. The mill is capable of churning out 620 PS of maximum power at 7,500 rpm and 630 Nm of peak torque from 5,500 to 6,500 rpm. According to the carmaker, the user can experience more than 95% of the torque between 3,000 rpm and 7,250 rpm.
The power is sent to the wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (Seamless Shift Gearbox), which assists the GT in achieving the sprint of 0-100 km in just 3.2 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 9.0 seconds. In addition to that, the car is capable of hitting a top speed of 326 km/h. The GT is 130Kg if compared to the rivals and also flaunts 405 PS per tonne of power-to-weight ratio.
Getting inside the car, you can find a McLaren four-speaker sound system, dual-zone climate control, and manually adjustable seats as standards. Moreover, you can upgrade all of the features mentioned above through McLaren Special Operations to match your personality. The base model of the McLaren will hold a price tag of RM 908k excluding the applicable taxes.
