KUALA LUMPUR: Just this morning McLaren Cars in Malaysia unveiled their latest limited-edition supercar, the Elva.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Is the new McLanren Elva a limited-edition car?
Only 149 units if the McLaren Elva will be built for the global market. How much does the McLaren Elva costs?
The asking price for the Elva in Malaysia starts at RM8.1 million (1,425,000 British Pounds) and once you tick a few option boxes; this price could move closer to RM9 million. The McLaren Elva joins the brand’s Ultimate Series as a ferociously fast open-cockpit car that heightens every sensory input to provide an unparalleled driving experience on both road and track.
The design language of the Elva is borrowed from race cars from the 1960s and this is why even the cockpit and dashboard layout is unique to the Elva.
This extreme two-seater is the lightest road car ever from McLaren Automotive, with a bespoke carbon fibre chassis and body and a pioneering McLaren Active Air Management System (AAMS) that shelters occupants by manipulating airflow while retaining a strong connection to the elements.
Power is delivered from a 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine which generates 815PS and 800Nm to deliver truly breath-taking performance figures. The McLaren Elva reaches 100km/h from standstill in less than three seconds and acceleration to 200 km/h is achieved in under seven seconds. The Elva is ready for track use once you include a six-point race harness which we believe will never happen.
At its asking price, it will be another supercar that will end up being stored for very occasional use, a showpiece for its owner to admire and show off, and then later flipped for a huge profit to a wealthy overseas buyer
The Elva will be following in the footsteps of previous Ultimate Series vehicles in being available in strictly limited numbers, in this case just 149 will be built to customer order. The asking price in Malaysia starts at RM8.1 million (1,425,000 British Pounds) and once you tick a few option boxes; this price could move closer to RM9 million.
The Malaysian buyer will need to tick on the option box for a windscreen and also windows for sure as this is a pure roadster and to be driven on occasion, you will not want to allow our weather conditions to damage the cabin of this hand-built roadster.
A lot of the Elva design, features, and parts are actually borrowed from the McLaren 720 and also the McLaren Longtail.
The Elva, like its popular siblings, will feature an active rear spoiler for added downforce and also improved stopping power at high speeds.
Only 149 cars will be built for the global market and we wonder how many Malaysians will get their hand on this very limited edition, McLaren?
