McLaren 600LT Spider Segestria Borealis revealed, limited to 12 units
KUALA LUMPUR: To celebrate the retirement of 600LT Spider, McLaren Special Operations brings a sporadic creation inspired by a venomous spider, known as McLaren 600LT Spider Segestria Borealis. The production of the limited-edition model is limited to just 12 units. It is scheduled to arrive in the U.S. this month with a price tag of US$278k (RM 1.2 million), which means US$19k (RM 83,000) expensive than a regular 600LT Spider.
On the exterior, the supercar features a shimmering Borealis Black paint, which pops in the light with purple, green, and dark red undertones, same as the iridescent black color of the Segestria Borealis spider. Over the paint, Napier Green stripes are running from nose to tail, which mimics the green fangs of the spider. The Napier Green hue is also present on the supercar's brake calipers, front fenders, side skirts, and pinstripes on the rear diffuser.
McLaren 600LT Spider Segestria Borealis also comes with the MSO Clubsport pack as standard. It includes titanium wheel bolts, gloss finished carbon-fibre front fender, carbon-fibre racing seats, and carbon-fibre interior accents.
Besides this package, the limited-edition 600LT Spider includes the latest Bowers & Wilkins 12-speaker audio system, a front axle lift system, rear parking sensors, and a McLaren Track Telemetry data recorder.
On the mechanical front, the supercar houses the same 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine mated to a seven-speed gearbox, producing 592 PS of power and 620 Nm of torque. The acceleration time from 0 to 100 kmph is 2.8 seconds.
Coming to the interior, it is designed according to the exterior’s design theme. The black, Alcantara-trimmed bucket seats have bright green stitching and embroidered accents that match the web pattern given on the body.
“The McLaren 600LT Spider Segestria Borealis by MSO is a singular example of the visionary, creative approach to the artistry of McLaren Special Operations. Like any 600LT, it is a purposeful, single-minded and menacing creation, but in this instance, all the power and performance of this supercar is expressed in a unique and striking design scheme that fits with the desire of many McLaren owners to personalize their cars to make them truly their own,” said McLaren North America president, Anthony Joseph.
