Mazda Indonesia debuts the 2024 CX-60 Pro at GIIAS 2024 - 2.5-litre NA with 188PS and 250Nm, will Malaysia get this spec?

KUALA LUMPUR:  Mazda Indonesia has unveiled a new variant of its premium SUV, the CX-60, at GIIAS 2024. The newly introduced Mazda CX-60 Pro offers a more affordable price point, featuring new trim and engine options. This launch is particularly noteworthy, as it could hint at the specifications we might expect when the CX-60 arrives in Malaysia.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What engine does the Mazda CX-60 Pro come with?

    A 2.5-litre NA with 188PS and 250Nm of torque
  • Does it have the same transmission as the 3.3-lite engine?

Yes, it retains its reliable Skyactiv-Drive 8-speed transmission and AWD
  • What's its price?

    Around RM231k
  • A year after its initial debut in Indonesia, the Mazda CX-60, which originally only featured an e-Skyactiv G 3.3-liter turbocharged inline-six petrol engine, is now available with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine. This new powertrain produces 188 PS and 250 Nm of torque, while still utilizing the all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. The SUV also retains its reliable Skyactiv-Drive 8-speed transmission.

The Mazda CX-60 Pro is priced at Rp799 million(RM231k) on the road (Jakarta) and is available in several colours: Soul Red Crystal Metallic, Machine Grey Metallic, Platinum Quartz Metallic, Deep Crystal Blue Mica, and Jet Black Mica.

In addition to the new engine, the CX-60 Pro features a distinct look compared to previous variants. The interior is dominated by black, including the dashboard trim, door panels, centre console, and leather upholstery. To avoid monotony, brown stitching accents have been added. The center console and doors also boast a sporty carbon look.

The infotainment system remains a 12-inch screen, connected to a premium Bose audio system. This screen also offers a 360-degree view through cameras installed at four exterior points. For the driver, features include a Driver Monitor and a head-up display.

Advanced safety features include Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. The cockpit comfort is enhanced by electric car seats and an electrically adjustable tilt and telescopic steering wheel. The Driver Personalization System allows for seat adjustments according to the driver’s posture. A Panoramic Sunroof adds a touch of luxury and spaciousness to the cabin.

According to MIDF Research, Mazda is set to introduce the CX-60 in Malaysia this year, following its debut in several ASEAN markets, including Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines. While the exact specifications for the Malaysian market are yet to be confirmed, the 2.5-liter engine appears to be a more road tax-friendly option. Although the 3.3-liter engine, enhanced by a 48-volt mild hybrid system producing 284 PS and 450 Nm of torque, is enticing, it would come with a significantly higher road tax cost.
