Mazda offers the CX-8 in four trims - 2.5G 2WD Mid, 2.5G 2WD Mid Plus, 2.5G 2WD High, and 2.2D 4WD High. The first three are powered by a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre SkyActiv-G mill generating maximum power of 192 hp and a peak torque of 258 Nm. However, the last one gets its energy from a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel unit generating 188 hp and 450 Nm. 

All the variants are paired with the same six-speed automatic gearbox with torque being vectored to all four corners through an AWD system.
