May 2023 sales report for Perodua and Toyota out now; covers 53.9 percent market share

KUALA LUMPUR: Both Toyota and Perodua showcased a promising sales front for the month of May 2023. The figures below help represent the same.

Year-to-date, both companies have also registered higher sales compared with the same period of 2022. The TIV has also increased by 12 percent for the first five months of 2023. Moving forward, the group will continue to introduce competitive and exciting new models to meet its customers’ requirements. We would like to extend our appreciation to our customers for their continuous support of our products and services.”

UMW Group May 2023 sales -

The month of May proved to be a good one for UMW Group as the automaker delivered a total of 32,703 units in total. Thus representing a 28% hike over April wherein it sold 25,641 units.

UMW Group comprises UMW Toyota and Lexus, out of the total sales the former sold 8,004 units (an 18% hike over the previous month with 6,767 units sold).

Speaking of Toyota’s year-to-date sales, the automaker till May 2023 has sold 39,990 units which compared to last year’s figure represents an 8% increase. This puts the brand’s current market share at 13.3%

Contributing to its sales are several factors, including the recently introduced Lexus RX 350. Hoping to continue the growth, UMWT rolled out the “Toyota Extra Mile” sales campaign for June 2023 which includes special promotions and the Toyota EZ Beli financing option for the purchase of selected models.

Perodua May 2023 sales -

Last month Perodua sold a total of 24,699 units which compared to April 2023 represents a 31% increase (18,874 units). Thus confirming Perodua’s growth from April to May 2023 outperformed the total industry volume growth.

The brand’s year-to-date sales rest at 122,137 units, a 15% hike over the same period last year. The brand’s market share also grew from 39.1% to 40.6%.

Factors contributing to the growth are - production enhancements and Perodua’s sales operations.
