Maxus MIFA 9 EV launched in Malaysia, check full details

KUALA LUMPUR:  Weststar Maxus has launched the MIFA 9 electric MPV, which seems to be a game-changer in Malaysia's automotive scene as it is the country's very first electric MPV. The MIFA 9 is offered in two fully imported variants in the local market viz. Luxury and Premium.

The price includes a five-year/100,000km manufacturer warranty and an eight-year/200,000km high voltage battery warranty.

Maxus MIFA 9 dimensions

Based on the Maxus Intelligent Flexible Architecture, the MIFA 9 measures 5,270 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,840 mm in height and spans a 3,200-mm long wheelbase. These dimensions put the Maxus EV in direct competition with ICE-powered Hyundai Staria and Toyota Alphard.

Maxus MIFA 9 powertrain, range, and charging 

Both variants of the electric MPV are powered by the same electric motor, which cranks out a maximum power of 245 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm. The EV accelerates from zero to 100 kmph in 9.2 seconds and clocks a top speed of 180 kmph.

Feeding the motor is a 90-kWh ternary lithium-ion battery pack, offering a WLTP-claimed range of 435 km on the Luxury and 430 km on the Premium variant. The MPV supports AC as well as DC charging; the 11 kW AC charger juices up the battery from 5% to 100% in 8.5 hours while the 120 kW DC charger provides 30% to 80% SoC in just 30 minutes.

The all-electric MIFA 9 features an innovative exterior design with dynamic, clean LED headlights and daytime running lights on the front and full LED tail lights and fog lamps on the rear. Adding to the luxury and comfort are front and rear powered sunroofs, dual power-sliding doors, heated side mirrors, and a powered tailgate. The MPV runs on 19-inch alloy wheels, featuring different designs on different variants.

The MPV has a thoughtfully designed interior with a black theme and modern aesthetics. It is kitted with a 2-2-3 seating configuration, high-quality materials, and hi-tech appointments, offering a premium feel, comfort, and practicality. The key highlights are -

Maxus MIFA 9 safety

The EV is loaded with several active and passive safety gears, ensuring protection and security for both the driver and passengers. The list includes - front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with brake assist, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Parts of the advanced driver-assistance suite are - autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, integrated Cruise Assist, lane change assist, lane departure warning, driver monitoring, lane keep assist, speed assist system, rear collision warning, auto high beam, emergency lane keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring

Weststar Maxus retails the MIFA 9 in six colour tones - Mica Blue, Snow Cyan, Pearl Luster White, Concrete Grey, Dynasty Red, and Black.
