Maserati Levante Hybrid made its official debut at the Auto Shanghai
KUALA LUMPUR: The luxury carmaker Maserati is on a mission to electrify its whole lineup that began last year in July when it revealed its first electrified model, the Ghibli Hybrid. Moving ahead on the electrification path, it now presents the Levante Hybrid with the same 48-volt treatment.
The lighter and more efficient alternative of the standard Levante has been showcased to the world in both physical and digital World Premiere events. Its live presentation happened at the Auto Shanghai Show while for the rest of the world, the company conducted a virtual launch event on its website (houseof.maserati.com).
According to Maserati, the all-new Levante Hybrid weighs less than the pure gasoline and diesel versions and has better weight distribution. The credit goes to battery placement in the rear without sacrificing load capacity. Under the bonnet, one can find a 2.0-litre four-popper engine combined with a 48-volt hybrid system. Together, they produce a combined output of 330 horsepower and a peak torque of 450 Nm. Mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system, the SUV can run from naught to 100 kmph only in 6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 240 kmph.
Besides the powertrain changes, Maserati also tweaked the styling quotient of the standard SUV for a clear distinction between hybrid and non-hybrid. The electrified version gets blue accents on the three iconic side air ducts, brake calipers, and the C-pillar logo. The chosen blue shade is the same seen on the Ghibli Hybrid, a mark to identify Maserati hybrid cars.
As for exterior paint, the Levante Hybrid launch version is coated with a new metallic tri-coat colour called Azzurro Astro. It is available as part of the Brand’s customisation programme, Maserati Fuoriserie.
Getting inside, here also you can find the same blue accents on the embroidered seams of the seats. Also new on the Levante Hybrid is an upgraded 8.4-inch infotainment system alongside the seven-inch driver's display and Maserati Connect program. The latter keeps you connected with your vehicle at all times, gives an alert when a service is due and provides an improved customer care experience.
Maserati is now accepting the orders for the new Levante Hybrid in the European market with deliveries planned to commence from June.
