KUALA LUMPUR: Only three months after its global debut, the Porsche Macan rival Maserati Grecale made its first appearance in Malaysia. The official distributor of Maserati cars in Malaysia, Naza Italia, showcased the new Grecale earlier this morning. It is now accepting the SUV's pre-bookings and offering an exclusive viewing to the interested folks.

Exterior
The Maserati Grecale exterior closely matches the bigger Levante; however, we can also see the apparent influence of the MC20 on the low and imposing grille, headlight graphics, and silhouette. Towards the rear lies the boomerang-shaped tail lights inspired by the 3200 GT sports and a distinctive exhaust.

Based on the Giorgio platform, the upcoming SUV measures 4,846 mm in length, 1,948 mm in width, 1,670 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,901 mm.
Engine
Maserati offers the Grecale in different engine options; the most powerful is a 3.0-litre V6 gasoline mill, which powers the top-spec Trofeo trim. This engine is a re-tuned version of the 'Nettuno' mill that powers the MC20 supercar. Here, it delivers a maximum power output of 530 PS and a peak torque of 620 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, enabling the SUV to hit the century sprint in 3.8 seconds before clocking a top speed of 285 kmph.
The engine units available under the hood of the Grecale GT and Grecale Modena are a 300PS 2.0 litre turbo mild-hybrid petrol and a 330PS 2.0 litre turbo mild-hybrid petrol, respectively.
Interior
On the inside, the Grecale does not look much different from its siblings from a broad perspective. However, it is equipped with a new four-screen set-up for a refreshed appearance. These comprise a 12.3-inch infotainment unit, a digital driver display, an 8.8-inch touchpad for HVAC controls, and a new digital clock on the dash.
The Malaysian-spec model is also likely to get a 21-speaker sound system, Maserati Connect telematics system, plenty of leather and premium material options, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, and a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems.
