Maserati celebrates past and future at the fifth Motor Valley Fest
KUALA LUMPUR: As the automotive industry shifts towards electrification, several carmakers are phasing out their larger gas engines such as V12s, V10s, and V8s. One such carmaker is Maserati which has decided to discontinue its current 572-hp 90° Twin Turbo V8 mill that powers the ongoing Ghibli, Quattroporte, and Levante Trofeo models.

The entire Maserati Folgore range, GEN3 Maserati Tipo Folgore, entire Trofeo range with Zèda editions of the Levante, Ghibli and Quattroporte, GranTurismo Zèda and the GranTurismo One-Off Prisma were displayed at the fifth Motor Valley Fest.The V8-powered versions of these Maserati models will officially cease production at the Maserati factory in late 2023. However, these will remain on sale till 2024 and are “due to becoming collector’s items for all owners of a unique piece in the jigsaw of the brand’s history."
“A historic moment for the Modena-based company, which has always looked ahead without leaving its roots behind, and for those who love the history and modernity of the Trident’s models and their ability to ensure style, emotions, and timeless performance. The same abilities will be maintained in the cars that will now become the new object of desire for collectors,” says the automaker.
Along with phasing out the V8 engine, the company also set to embrace the electrified future with the launch of the GranTurismo Folgore and Grecale Folgore. The GranTurismo Folgore is the brand’s first pure electric car while the Grecale Folgore is the first full-electric SUV. Not to forget, Maserati has planned to launch electric versions of all its models by 2025 and become a fully electric brand by 2030.
Maserati has chosen the fifth Motor Valley Fest to celebrate the glorious history of V8 cars and the introduction of Folgore ones. The said fest was an open-air event held in Modena from 11th to 14th May 2023.
Over these four days, the stunning display of the Trident's creations at the city’s iconic locations was observed, including
- Piazza Grande: Entire Maserati Folgore range (including the GranTurismo Folgore One Off Luce and Grecale Folgore) and GEN3 Maserati Tipo Folgore (a single-seater model set to compete in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship this year)
- Piazza XX Settembre: Entire Trofeo range with Zèda editions of the Levante, Ghibli, and Quattroporte
- Viale Ciro Menotti showroom: GranTurismo Zèda and the GranTurismo One Off Prisma
