Malaysia to soon get Isuzu D-Max with a new engine
KUALA LUMPUR: The brand-new Isuzu D-Max will soon arrive in the Malaysian market and would be powered by a new powerplant. The said mill is called RZ4E-TC 1.9-litre Ddi BluePower diesel turbo engine.
It was after four-year of extensive research on diesel engines that Isuzu came up with the new-generation of RZ4E mill. It will power the 2019 Isuzu D-Max that is already on sale in the Thai market.
The reason behind its delayed arrival in Malaysia attributes to the low fuel quality compared to the Thai market. This required Isuzu enginers to tweak the new engine, to, work utterly well with the third world diesel fuel sold around in Malaysia.
The 2019 D-Max design language features a new front fascia with a redesigned grille and bumper section. The range-topping ‘High’ trim will feature elements like taillights with LED units, chrome finished rear bumper, fog lamps, and a new tailgate. The pickup runs on 18-inch wheels. The cabin brings along a large 9-inch infotainment display instead of a 7-inch unit. The upholstery, along with the instrument cluster, has been updated. The safety kit includes traction control, ABS, hill-start assist, electronic stability control, and hill-start assist.
One major highlight of the new Isuzu D-Max is its enhanced fuel efficiency which is the result of the new engine unit that features anti-friction Diamond Like Coating materials and has a clothoid curve combustion chamber. There is also a new common rail injector that offers 200 Mpa of pressure which further enhances fuel atomization offering fuller combustion.
Taking care of emission is the new Variable Geometry Turbocharger System that comes with an exhaust recirculation system. This unit also controls Nox emissions.
The all-new 1.9-litre Ddi BluePower turbo diesel mill reads 60 kg on the weighing scale and is almost 20 percent lighter than the 2.5-litre Ddi VSG Turbo unit that it replaces. The 1.9-litre powerplant develops 150 hp of power along with a peak torque of 350 Nm at 1800 to 2600 rpm. The new D-Max also has a remarkably low CO2 emission of 161 g/km.
Figuratively speaking, the all-new 1.9L Ddi BluePower turbo diesel engine boasts 9.4 percent more torque, 10 percent more power, 19 percent better fuel economy, and 8.2 percent faster acceleration. The said engine will feature in the 2019 D-Max along with the new mu-X SUV.
