Malaysia to get a brand new French pickup truck, the Landtrek

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, you read it just right. French automaker Peugeot will soon be bringing its brand new pickup truck to the Malaysian market. Called the Landtrek, the upcoming 4x4 vehicle will rival the likes of Isuzu D-Max and Toyota Hilux.

Sources close to Bermaz Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd (BAASB), the official distributor of Peugeot vehicles in Malaysia, revealed that the upcoming 2023 Landtrek will be offered as a locally-assembled unit. The pickup is said to be manufactured at the Stellantis facility located in Gurun, Kedah. If so, the Landtrek would be the fourth Peugeot model (after 2008, 3008, and 5008) to be assembled at the mentioned plant.

What do we know about the upcoming Peugeot Landtrek?

• The 2023 Peugeot Landtrek is a rebadged version of the Kaicene F70, developed by Stellantis & Changan Automobile
• Powering the pickup truck would be either a 152PS/350 Nm 1.9-litre turbo diesel unit or a 212PS/320Nm making 2.4-litre turbo petrol mill
• As of now, the Landtrek is only limited to the right-hand drive South African market where it is powered by a 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine

• The Peugeot pickup truck would be a stylish and functional vehicle with elements like LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED tail lights, chrome door handles, automatic rain-sensing wipers, 17/18-inch wheels (depending on the variants)
• It is sure a safe pickup truck with features like six airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Lane Keeping Alert
