Malaysia-bound Jaecoo J6 EV bookings open in Thailand, two variants on offer
KUALA LUMPUR: Chery’s luxury sub-brand Jaecoo made its Malaysian debut with the launch of the J7 SUV last month. The next Jaecoo model earmarked to launch in the local market is the J6 EV, which is now open for booking in Thailand.

The Jaecoo J6 is expected to hit the Malaysian market early next year.Jaecoo Thailand offers the J6 in two variants - Long Range 2WD and Long Range 4WD, priced at THB 1,099,000 (approx. RM 139k) and THB 1,249,000 approx. RM 158k).
The two-wheel drive variant is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor kicking out a maximum power of 181 PS and a peak torque of 220 Nm. The power is enough to propel the EV from zero to 100 kmph in 10.5 seconds and attain a top speed of 150 kmph. Feeding the electric motor is a 65.69 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack which offers a range of 371 km (on the WLTP cycle).
The 4WD trim, on the contrary, runs on two electric motors capable of generating a total system output of 275 PS and 385 Nm. With this configuration, the EV completes the century sprint in 6.5 seconds, which is 4 seconds quicker. The top speed, however, remains the same as the 2WD model. The top-spec Jaecoo J6 comes with a 69.77 kWh battery that lets the EV cruise up to 364 km.
The Jaecoo J6 measures 4,406 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,715 mm in height, and spans a wheelbase of 2,715 mm. Design-wise, it boasts a boxy appearance with looks resembling the Land Rover Defender.
Depending on the variant selected, the Thai-spec Jaecoo J6 comes equipped with Matrix Adaptive Headlights, a 9.2-inch metre panel, a 15.6-inch infotainment unit, 50-watt Qi wireless charger, a V2L functionality, and a 12-speaker Infinity sound system.
Jaecoo Thailand offers an 8-year/200,000-kilometre warranty covering the vehicle, driving motor system, and high voltage battery and a free Garmin Forerunner 165 special edition watch worth THB 10,000 to the first 1,000 early bird customers. However, 1-year of complimentary insurance, a home charging unit with installation, and 5 years of roadside assistance are available for all those customers who take the EV home before November 30.
