Malaysia-bound BMW iX2 up for grabs in Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR: Last month, BMW Malaysia unveiled a teaser for the upcoming iX2 on its official website and started accepting the EV’s registrations. While the local launch timeline for the upcoming all-electric Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) is still up in the air, it has made its way to the Thai market.

    In terms of design, the electric counterpart of the BMW X2 stands out with a closed-off 'Iconic Glow' kidney front grille and new twin headlights featuring striking daytime driving lights in a four-eyed design and adaptive LEDs. The roofline flows smoothly to the back, giving it a sleek coupe look. Also part of the kit is 20-inch M light-alloy wheels in V Spoke 873 M Bicolour design, a huge Panorama glass roof, and unique patterned LED tail lights.

    The iX2 xDrive30 M Sport is equipped with fifth-gen BMW eDrive technology, featuring two electric motors that collectively deliver a system output of 313 hp and a peak torque of 494 Nm. It enables the EV to run from zero to 100 kmph in 5.6 seconds and clock a top speed of 180 kmph. 

    The motors are fed by the high-voltage 66.5 kWh battery offering a range of up to 417-449 km on the WLTP cycle. The battery supports a maximum DC charging power of 130 kW, which facilitates a quick 0-80% charge within 29 minutes. On the contrary, the maximum AC charging power of 22 kW juices up 100% battery in 3 hours and 45 minutes.

    Inside, the EV exudes a modern and premium feel with sporty details. It is adorned with Aluminum finish trim, graphic accents, and an M Alcantara/Veganza combo in Black with Blue stitching upholstery.
