KEY TAKEAWAYS
When will the Nissan Kicks e-Power launch in Malaysia?
There is no information yet available on the Nissan Kicks e-Power launch in Malaysia. What is Nissan e-Power technology?
The Nissan e-Power technology is a unique electric-drive powertrain that combines a gasoline engine with a motor. Unlike conventional hybrid setups, the engine generates electricity, and the electric motor drives the wheels. The model on display is the facelifted version of the first-gen Kicks that made its global debut in 2020, not the second-gen Kicks recently unveiled in the US. It is equipped with the brand’s e-Power technology, which combines a 1.2-litre DOHC 12-valve three-cylinder engine and a front-mounted electric motor. Together, the system generates a maximum power of 136 PS and a peak torque of 280 Nm.
Also, part of the drivetrain is a 1.57 kWh battery pack positioned under the front seats. The four selectable driving modes are - EV, Normal, Sport, and Eco.
If we talk about fuel efficiency, the Nissan Kicks e-Power is said to consume 2.2-litre per 100 kilometres.
The SUV is 4,290 mm long, 1,760 mm wide, and 1,610 mm tall and has a 2,615 mm wheelbase. The ground clearance and minimum turning radius are 182 mm and 5.100 mm, respectively.
In terms of aesthetics, the Nissan Kicks e-Power has a young and sporty appearance. Key highlights include a V-motion front grille and boomerang-shaped LED headlights, LED tail lights, and 17-inch wheels. The cabin comes equipped with an 8-inch infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity options, a 7-inch TFT digital metre cluster, Zero-Gravity seats, and an e-Pedal Step.
While the Nissan Kicks e-Power preview at the MAS 2024 hints at its soon arrival in Malaysia, the automaker remained tight-lipped on the matter. However, if it sees the light of day, the Nissan electrified SUV will directly compete against the Honda HR-V e:HEV RS and the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid in the local market.
