Malaysia Auto Show 2023: Peugeot e-2008 EV on display, launch later this year

KUALA LUMPUR: One of the several exciting models on display at the Malaysia Auto Show 2023 is the all-new Peugeot e-2008. This latest German car is the all-electric version of the Peugeot 2008 and is slated to hit the local roads towards the end of the year.

The EV is based on the same Common Modular Platform (CMP) found under the internal combustion engine-powered 2008. The SUV measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width, and 1,550 mm in height.

Powering the Peugeot e-2008 EV is a single motor setup that is capable of generating a maximum power of 136 hp and a peak torque of 260 Nm. The motor is juiced up by a 50-kWh battery, which lets the EV run for 320 km (WLTP range) on a single charge. The battery can be charged from 0 to 80% in half an hour when using a 100 kW DC charger.

In terms of design, the EV looks pretty much identical to the non-electric model. It is likely to come kitted with the following features-

• 10-inch infotainment unit 
• Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity
• Ambient lighting

• Electronic parking brake
• High Beam Assist
• Blind Spot Monitoring
• Active Lane Keeping Assist
• Driver Attention Warning
• Active Safety Brake

Upon launching, the Peugeot e-2008 EV will rival the likes of the Mazda MX-30 and Kia EV6 in the local market.
