Lotus Evora 400 Launched: A Detailed Review
Kuala Lumpur: After making a global debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, Lotus Evora 400 is finally here in Malaysia at the Lotus showroom in Jalan Damansara. Earlier in August 2015, Lotus Cars Malaysia gave a glimpse of this car on its official Facebook page. Later in September, it was confirmed that Evora 400 has left its factory and is on its way to respective dealers. After such a long wait, Malaysians would finally be able to get up close and personal with this sports car. Going by the recent trend, one can make out that the outlook for Lotus in Malaysia has been changing year by year. Last year, Lotus Elise Great Britain and Lotus Elise 220 Cup were also launched in Malaysia. This hints towards expansion plans of Lotus Cars Malaysia with the expectation of break even sales or even some profit in current year.
Engine:
Talking about the car, under the hood it would be powered by a supercharged 3.5-litre V6 engine which comes with an option of 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The one with manual transmission churns out a maximum power of 400 hp at 7000 rpm along with a peak torque of 410 Nm at 3500 rpm. Further, it completes a century sprint in 4.2 seconds along with a top speed of 300 kmph. On the other hand, the one with automatic transmission delivers a maximum power of 400 hp at 7000 rpm along with a commanding torque of 400 Nm at 4500 rpm. Further, it completes a century sprint in 4.2 seconds along with a top speed of 280 kmph.
Dimensions and Exterior:
Towards the exterior, it has got a redesigned front and rear fascia. Further, it gets a new pair of Bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, power-folding heated wing mirrors and an oval exhaust pipe at the rear end. Apart from the visual enhancements, it has also got lighter body panels that helps it to reduce its weight by 42 Kg. For an improved power-to-weight ratio, its front fender and rear spoiler were also redesigned.
Interior:
Inside, it gets a lot of red leather throughout the cabin. The seats have also been redesigned due to lowered door sills. Moreover, the driver centric steering wheel is given a more sportier look with black leather.
As far as prices are concerned, the Evora 400 price starts from RM597,999 for manual transmission and RM610,999 for automatic transmission. This price also includes a 3-year warranty and 2-year free service. Moreover, the first 30 buyers will be able to get an additional discount by the company.
