Lexus TX debuts as the brand's longest-ever SUV
KUALA LUMPUR: Lexus has expanded its global lineup with the reveal of the highly-awaited three-row SUV, the TX. It is the longest SUV ever produced by Lexus, which underpins the same platform as the Toyota Grand Highlander, however, the Lexus model features a distinct exterior design and is better equipped in terms of features offering next-level comfort.

Dimensions
Dimensionally, the Lexus TX measures 5,160 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and 1,780 mm in height and carries a wheelbase of 2,950 mm. The boot space is measured at 1625 litres with folded third row and 2747 litres with the folded second and third row.
Powertrain
Lexus offers the US-spec TX in three versions - TX350, TX500h, and TX500h+
TX350 - It is powered by a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing a maximum power of 275 hp and a peak torque of 430 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission paired with either FWD or AWD setup
TX500h - Here, the same 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine gets hybrid assistance, resulting in 366 hp and 554 Nm. Also part of the pack is - 6-speed automatic transmission and DIRECT4 AWD system
TX500h+ - This is a plug-in hybrid mill combining a 3.5-litre non-turbo V6 with electric motors for a combined output of 406 hp. It comes with a CVT gearbox and DIRECT4 AWD system
Exterior
The new Lexus TX exterior looks quite interesting with the body-coloured “Unified Spindle” front grille with a chrome bar in the middle. The headlights feature an inverted L-shaped accent light while the tail lights are stretched across the overall width of the vehicle. The SUV runs on either 20-or 22-inch wheels.
The Lexus TX colour palette comprises seven options - Cloudburst Gray, Wind Chill Pearl, Caviar, Matador Red Mica, Nightfall Mica, Incognito, and Celestial Silver Metallic.

Safety
Part of the Lexus TX advanced Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 are - adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane following assist, autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, front and rear cross-traffic alert, and a 360-degree camera.
Made exclusively for the North American market, the new Lexus TX will hit the showrooms later this year.
