Lexus LC 500 Convertible introduced at 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show

KUALA LUMPUR: The luxury vehicle division of Toyota, Lexus has introduced the LC 500 Convertible at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, which was held between November 22nd to December 1st. However, only 300 units of the LC500 Convertible with Morphic Blue colour paint will be headed to production.

LC 500 Convertible comes with a soft roof, which takes just 15 seconds for opening and closing at up to 50 kmph speed. According to the brand, there is no sign of wrinkles, and the frame of the roof will not be visible while raising it. It is built with the magnesium, and the rear suspension’s bracing is made of die-cast aluminium.

The LC500 Convertible gets active anti-roll bars that help to manage its weight. The folding roof mechanism mainly helps to shift the weight distribution (48/52 front/rear) smoothly.

Inside the cabin, the layout of LC 500 Convertible is unchanged from the LC500 coupe. It comes with soft, dual-tone leather. There is a digital instrument display with a moving rev counter. Furthermore, there is a 10.3-inch centre display, which is linked to the brand’s Remote Touch interface. It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The palm rest aft of the touchpad hides the roof controls.

Earlier the droptop LC 500 was rumoured to get a 500h hybrid variant, but there is no sign of it as of now. For now, it comes with a 2UR-GSE 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated eight-pot engine, which is capable of pumping out a maximum power of 470 hp coming at 7,100 rpm and the peak torque is 540 Nm at 4,800 rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a 10-speed Direct Shift torque converter automatic gearbox.
