Lexus LBX debuts as the brand’s smallest model ever

KUALA LUMPUR: Lexus has finally pulled the wraps off its smallest model ever called LBX, which stands for 'Lexus Breakthrough X(cross)-over'. The new city SUV is positioned below the UX in the brand’s global lineup and rides on the same GA-B platform as the Toyota Yaris Cross SUV.

Dimensionally, the new Lexus LBX measures 4,190 mm in length, 1,825 mm in width, and 1,560 mm in height. The wheelbase is measured at 2,580 mm. Compared to the UX, the new SUV is 305 mm shorter and 15 mm narrower. The wheel options include - 18-inch wrapped with 225/55R18 tyres, and 17-inch shod with 225/60R17 tyres.

Powering the Lexus LBX is a hybrid powertrain setup comprising a 1.5-litre three-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor. The system churns out a maximum power of 134 hp and a peak torque of 185 Nm, allowing the SUV to hit a century sprint in 9.2 seconds.

• Intelligent parking sensors with auto-braking
• Rear Cross Traffic Alert
• Blind Spot Monitor

The new Lexus SUV will hit the selected markets, including Europe and Japan in Q4 2023.
