Lexus GX 460 gets updates for 2021

KUALA LUMPUR: Lexus has given a minor update its body-on-frame GX 460 SUV for the 2020 model year in the US, including a new spindle grille, a triple-beam LED headlights with a unique design and a new off-road package. And, now for the next year, the automaker brought in a new deal, this time, the changes include a number of premium and tech updates.

As always, Lexus has been generous while loading the new features in the 2021 GX 460. Apart from the ongoing ones, the new SUV gets Amazon Alexa compatibility and acoustic front side glass as standard. The add-on features in the Premium Plus package are a navigation system, a 330-watt Mark Levinson premium sound system with 17 speakers, and third-row powered seats. Moreover, the customers who opt for Premium and Premium Plus packages will now get 18-inch silver wheels and a heated, wood-trimmed steering wheel.

The new Lexus GX 460 comes in six exterior colors - Starfire Pearl, Nebula Gray Pearl, Atomic Silver, Nightfall Mica, Black Onyx, and Claret Mica. For the interior, four available colors are Black, Ecru, Sepia, and Rioja Red with the black headliner.

Being Lexus’s aging car for decades, the 2021 Lexus GX 460 carries the same exterior design and powertrain under the bonnet. All the trims continue to get power from a 4.6-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine churning out 305 PS of power and 446 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with an impressive four-wheel-drive system that gives the SUV the zeal to ride all terrains.

On the safety side, there are ten airbags, Lexus’ Safety Connect system, and the Lexus Safety System +, bundling a pre-collision System with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert, intelligent high beams, and high-speed dynamic radar cruise control.

Although the new GX 460 price has been bumped by $100 across the range, it is justified taking into account the features that have now come on board. The 2021 Lexus GX 460 price starts at $53,100 (RM 221,498) for the base trim.
