LEGO Speed Champions collection gets the first speedster: McLaren Elva

KUALA LUMPUR: The luxury automaker McLaren and the iconic toy brand LEGO have come up with a buildable replica of the Elva supercar. Yes, one of the world’s most exclusive open-top speedsters is now available in the form of a Lego toy, made up of 263 pieces. Well, this is not the first time we are seeing a McLaren Lego car, the company rolled out the LEGO Technic McLaren Senna GTR earlier in January.

While detailing its latest product, Chris Stamp, Design Manager, LEGO Speed Champions said, “As the first Speedster in the LEGO Speed Champions collection, we worked closely with the McLaren team, receiving initial sketches and early digital renders of the car, that helped us create a completely unique building experience.”

Just like the real world car, the Elva LEGO set comes with a wide chassis carrying a two-seat open cockpit, a windshield, and a small vent area for the Active Air Management System. The authentic detailings given to the toy are meant to deliver an exciting building experience to the enthusiasts. Suitable for display as well as super-aerodynamic driving action, the Elva Lego measures 16 cm in length, 4 cm in height, and 7 cm in width. 

Also, the company has included a McLaren driver minifigure in the Champions, which is decked up in a racing suit, helmet, and wrench. It is inspired by McLaren Automotive’s Principal Development Engineer for Ultimate Series, Rachel Brown who worked incredibly on the project.

She explains, “It is amazing to have witnessed the Elva go from a boundary pushing concept drawing all the way to final vehicle production. It feels even more special now to see all of that hard work transformed into the LEGO Speed Champions Elva model for us to share with children and fans across the world.”

Surely, this thrilling LEGO Speed Champions McLaren Elva set gives children and auto enthusiasts a chance to collect, build and explore an esteemed supercar. It will be available on Lego's official website LEGO.com, LEGO stores, and other retailers from this month at a price of £17.99 in the UK (RM 105).
