Lego partners with Lamborghini for its Technic Ultimate Series
KUALA LUMPUR: Lego, the Denmark-based plastic toy construction company, continues to partner with auto brands for its Technic Ultimate Series. Back in 2016, it teamed up with the German supercar manufacturer Porsche and built a scale model of the famous 911 GT3 RS. Next collab saw the construction of the toy set based on the Bugatti Chiron in 2018. This time around it’s Lamborghini whose teaser image has been released.
The scaled model of the brick Lambo will be in the ratio of 1:8 like it was on the previous two Bugatti and Porsche occasions. Both the companies have remained silent on revealing the details of the model. The possibility of it being the Sián FKP 37 is on the higher side due to the “Y-shaped” background lighting in the teaser.
The Sián was Lamborghini’s first hybrid vehicle that was suffixed with “FKP 37” later after the death of Ferdinand Karl Piëch, VW’s former chairman and grandson of Ferdinand Porsche. Karl Piëch was born in 1937 and hence the suffix included 37.
Nor the pricing of the Technic set is not out neither the number of pieces it’ll have, but it is rumoured that the price would be around $379 (RM 1,553 approx) which would be the second most expensive Lego set, after the Liebherr R 9800 Excavator that was priced at $449. The Porsche’s scaled model came with a price tag of $299, whereas, the Chiron was marked at a price of $349.
Talking about the number of pieces, the Chiron 1:1 model had 3,599 bricks, while the Porsche (1:1) had 2,704. We expect the Lambo model to also be the 1:1 replica of the original model, hence expect similar or even more pieces this time around.
The Lego-Lambo Technic set will go on sale from June 1, 2020.
