LeBron James featured in GMC Hummer EV Super Bowl ad
KUALA LUMPUR: Hummer is back with a bang. The official teasers have begun, with NBA superstar LeBron James revealing the GMC Hummer EV in a Super Bowl ad. The superstar presents the Hummer in a commercial with him doing the slam dunk asserting “pure dominance”. The 30-second spot hints at the “quiet revolution” theme of the car because as the slam dunk move is done, there’s absolute silence.
So far, it seems that the big Hummer will be good for 1000 hp of power and 15,590 Nm of torque, with the ability to clock 96 kmph in just 3 seconds. Of these claims, the torque figure is rather misleading and we expect that the reborn Hummer won’t come with such twist. This figure could be the wheel torque instead of the engine torque. For unawares, wheel torque is calculated by multiplying the motor torque with transmission’s drive ratio.
The commercial ends with James’s voice over reminding all of us that there are “zero limits” when we talk about the Hummer EV. Further, the teaser shot of the EV’s front and debut date can also be seen. The reborn Hummer will now wear a GMC badge and will come out officially in front of the world on May 20, 2020. The truck will go on sale in fall next year. Once launched, it will be faring up against the likes of the Ford Rivian R1T and the Tesla Cybertruck.
The re-introduction of Hummer couldn’t have been better considering how big the Hummer name is in itself. We are waiting for the grand debut eagerly now.
