Leapmotor C10 REEV: An innovative hybrid SUV with 950 km range

KUALA LUMPUR: First revealed at the 2023 Munich Motor Show, the Leapmotor C10 has received a new avatar in the European market. The latest version of the mid-size crossover is called the C10 REEV (Range Extender Electric Vehicle) and will make its global debut at the 101st Brussels Motor Show, taking place from January 10 to 19, 2025.

The REEV technology combines the benefits of conventional ICE-powered models and pure electric vehicles, offering a hybrid mobility solution with better range.

The Leapmotor C10 REEV is powered by a 1.5-litre internal combustion engine and a 215-hp electric motor. Also part of the drivetrain setup is a 28.4 kWh battery pack, which offers an all-electric range of 145 km (on the WLTP cycle). 

With the REEV tech, the total driving range of the Leapmotor C10 exceeds 950 km, allowing customers to travel longer distances as compared to the BEV version. The SUV consumes 0.4 litres of fuel per 100 km in combined mode.

Speaking of CO2 emissions, the Leapmotor C10 REEV emits 10 grams per km, which is significantly less than traditional gasoline vehicles, making it a perfect option for eco-conscious buyers.

The battery supports both AC and DC fast charging. With the latter, the C10 REEV can recover half of its electric range in just 18 minutes. 

How does the innovative REEV operate?

The Ranger Extender vehicle primarily operates as an EV with the e-motor driving the wheels. However, when the battery is low, the gasoline engine comes into action and generates power, recharges the battery and thus extends the range. Overall, it offers the quiet and smooth driving experience of an EV along with the flexibility of a conventional vehicle for longer trips.

According to the automaker, this hybrid model is perfect for those looking for a flexible and efficient hybrid solution. It is ideal for both city driving and long-distance travel.

Leapmotor C10 in Malaysia

In October 2024, the Leapmotor C10 made its way to Malaysia in the pure EV form. Stellantis Malaysia offers this D-segment EV in a sole Design variant, priced at RM 159,000 (including a six-year/150,000 km warranty, and an eight-year/160,000 km battery warranty). It comes equipped with a 218 PS/320 electric motor (mounted on the rear axle) and a 69.9 kWh battery pack offering a range of 424 km.
