Lamborghini SCV12, ready to hit the track soon

KUALA LUMPUR: For months now, October 2019, to be precise, Lamborghini has been teasing the track-only hypercar - SCV12. We feel that the car is soon going to debut, as the automaker once again teased it, this time along with a message that read ‘ New Model Launch Stay Tuned’.

The Lamborghini SCV12 is developed by the company’s Squadra Corse’s GT motorsport division. Also, the car would be built by the same team; however, we are not clear on the number of units produced. There is a strong possibility that the SCV12 will be a limited edition model.

One of the strongest attractions of the SCV12 besides its design is the powerful engine it houses. The car is said to feature “the most powerful V12 naturally aspirated engine from Lamborghini to date.” The 6.5-litre V12 mill is said to make 830 PS, and the power will be discharged to the ground via a 6-speed transmission. This gearbox is derived from the one in the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO; here it sends the power to the rear wheels.

Enhancing the car’s performance is its robust suite of aerodynamics elements like the bespoke bonnet with dual air intakes, substantial rear fenders, massive diffuser with big rear wing attached, and central vent directing the air to the engine. For the latter one, the company says it directs dynamic air pressure to increase static air pressure in the powerplant’s intake, resulting in higher airflow and more power.

It is for the fact that the SCV12 is a track-only car; therefore, its design doesn’t take into consideration pedestrian safety and road regulations. It is for the same reason it features elements like the front splitter, vertical fins and lateral flicks on the side, and custom-built carbon fibre rear wing. The conventional headlamps are replaced by hexagonal-shaped lamps present at the lower corners.

The Lamborghini SCV12 rides on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear magnesium wheels with Pirelli slicks and features a full carbon-fibre chassis where the gearbox acts as a structural element.

Once launched, the SCV12 customers will enjoy advanced driving programmes at some of the most prestigious circuits.
