Lamborghini restarts production; set to unveil a new model on May 7
KUALA LUMPUR: After a pause of seven weeks, the Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has restarted its Sant’Agata Bolognese production plant in Italy from May 4. Along with this, the firm also announced the showcase of a new model later this week and astonished all the auto-enthusiasts. The global virtual unveiling of the model will take place on May 7, which will “complete [Lamborghini’s> model range".
Lamborghini has resumed the manufacturing in accordance with the Italian Prime Minister’s order of April 26, which stated that certain industries could resume work from May 4. The firm is following all the precautionary measures to ensure the safety of its employees.
“We are ready to restart with great energy, but also with strict protocols for safeguarding what is most precious to us: the safety of our people. This priority is why we were the first Italian automotive company to close and continues to be our guiding principle for a well-reasoned and safe recovery because we still have not won the battle against Covid-19,” said Stefano Domenicali, chairman, and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.
He further added, “We will constantly monitor the contagion’s evolution and be ready to adjust our protocols in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Italian government and the Emilia-Romagna region, which we would like to thank for their support during this sensitive phase.”
It is to be noted that Lamborghini has halted production on March 13 due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Italy, where the condition was too critical in the early stages. Though, the parts of Lamborghini were constantly used in the production of medical equipment during the pandemic.
Coming back to the new model, its details are not yet disclosed; however, the market analysts expect that it could be a PHEV version of Lamborghini Urus or a convertible Spyder version of the Huracan Evo RWD. Another possibility is a Huracan Super Trofeo Omologato that will produce the same amount of power as the Huracan Performante and may get the additional aero upgrades.
However, all these speculations will have to wait till tomorrow to know what Lamborghini has in store for us.
