Meet Lamborghini's new track weapon, the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2

KUALA LUMPUR: Lamborghini motorsport division, Squadra Corse recently introduced the all-new version of its track-focused car that will begin racing with the 2022 season. It is dubbed as the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 and differs radically from the earlier Super Trofeo Evo version, with new bodywork that carries some resemblance to the road model. As per the automaker, it is the most high-performance iteration of the range.

On the exterior, the head-turning racing car boasts a design created by Lamborghini Centro Stile that carries some aerodynamic refinements. It includes new high-intensity full LED headlight clusters, all-new air curtain intakes, a prominent rear wing linked to the single-piece rear fenders, and a new rear diffuser. The combination of these elements helps the car in improving airflow alongside maximizing downforce, which keeps it cool while ripping the racing oval at over 320 kmph.

According to Lamborghini’s Head of Design, Mitja Borkert, “When we approached the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 project, we immediately thought of the concept of ‘Racing in style’. That is, a combination of the typical aggressiveness of the Huracán racing cars and the classic stylistic features of Lamborghini’s DNA.”

The size of the front steel discs is increased by 10 mm, they now measure 390 mm. And, the new calipers feature a larger surface area for better braking performance, says the automaker.

Under the bonnet, this track-focused weapon carries a 5.2-litre V10 naturally aspirated engine capable of generating a whopping power of 620 PS. It is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox, which channels power to the rear wheels.
