Lamborghini finally reveals the track-only hypercar - Essenza SCV12

KUALA LUMPUR: The day had finally arrived when Lamborghini revealed its much-awaited track-only hypercar, the Essenza SCV`12. This beast was under the radar for quite some time with its latest teaser released just yesterday with the tagline ‘New Model Launch Stay Tuned’.

Automobili Lamborghini will only be producing 40 units of this hypercar that delivers over 830 CV. The Essenza SCV12 is developed and designed by Lamborghini Squadra Corse and Lamborghini Centro Stile, respectively. As mentioned earlier, the car is exclusively for track use, with its engineering solutions derived from racing. The vehicle is fitted with a V12 naturally aspirated engine, gets racing prototypes inspired aerodynamics, and new technical solutions designed for ultimate driving pleasure.

Now, let’s consider each of the aspects mentioned above individually, starting with the Essenza SCV12 engineering solutions.

• Giving the car its unique engine sound, improving performance, and reducing back pressure is its exhaust pipes
• A new X-trac sequential six-speed transmission handles the power
• The power is sent to the rear wheel which ensures higher torsional stiffness, compactness, and structural continuity
• It is the first GT car that adheres to the FIA prototype safety rules
• The car showcases an exceptional power to weight ratio of 1.66 kg/Cv that is archived due to the carbon-fibre monocoque chassis without an internal roll cage

Essenza SCV12 aerodynamic profile

• Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s GT racing experience has benefited the SCV12; it ensures higher downforce levels (1200 kg at 250 kmph) and efficiency
• Other aerodynamic elements include - double air intake on front hood with central rib, front splitter and lateral elements
• On the sides, it gets vertical fins on the side sills, and the rear gets a large adjustable double-profile wing

Essenza SCV12 design elements

• Interestingly, the Essenza SCV12 body structure is made up of only three elements, enabling quick replacement when necessary during pit stops
• Y-shaped design theme can be seen from the exterior to the cabin
• The multi-functional steering wheel with display is inspired by F1 single-seater unit, and it offers a perfect feel and best ergonomics
• Ensuring driver’s maximum comfort, stability and safety are the FIA homologated OMP seat
