Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week: Cars that rocked the ramp
Kuala Lumpur: Cars have always been looked up as a status symbol defining your personal style. The quintessential combination of performance with looks is all that you need to make yourself stand out from the crowd. Whenever a luxury car passes through your eyes, you can't stop gazing at it because it has managed to capture your soul through its handsome exteriors. Though the performance aspect weighs a tonne, but the exterior, the sheer aesthetics are a major alluring aspect which you can't ignore. And not only the exteriors, an interior is a place where you spend most of your time with the car, so it has to be comfortable yet classy. Many automakers have always tried their hands in making such masterpieces which redefine a good looking car.
The Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) has been initiated on July 31 and is scheduled to end on August 31. Throughout this month, it will take place at five different locations. The KLFW has a legacy of relating cars with the fashion industry. Every year, apart from new designers, a new automaker showcases its limited edition models. That particular model is then exhibited throughout the course of fashion festival. Let's have a look at all the cars which have been exhibited in a span of three years:
2015-BEETLE CLUB 'BUG' EDITION Talking about the Beetle Club limited edition, the lower end of the side profile has been designed with an orange lining which runs throughout the length of the car along with an orange coloured “club” sticker near the rear fender. To accentuate this orange-black combination, the side mirrors are also half painted in this orange tone. Moving towards the interior one can notice orange stitching on the steering wheel along with tartan plaid seating. To move this vehicle, it is anchored with 17 inch Ravenna wheels. This cute beast is powered by a 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine carrying 4 cylinders which can deliver a maximum power of 105 PS at 5000 rpm along with a peak torque of 175 Nm at 1550-4100 rpm. It is mated with a 7-speed direct shift gearbox that delivers an acceleration count of 10.9 seconds to hit the 100 kmph speed mark. Furthermore, its direct injection fuel system helps it to deliver a mileage of 5.9 litre per 100 km.
2014-MASERATI GHIBLI Maserati Ghibli took its fashionable wheels from highway to the runway as the official car sponsor of KLFW 2014. NAZA Italia, who are the authorised importer and distributor of Maserati in Malaysia, provided a fleet of their cars to chauffeur VIPs. The traditional Maserati oval grille adds to the style quotient along with a majestic bonnet and new front light assemblies with LED daylights. This classy sedan is powered by a 3-litre V6 engine which delivers a maximum power of 330 PS at 5000 rpm along with a commanding torque of 500 Nm at 4500 rpm. It is able to cover a sprint of 0-100 kmph in just 5.6 seconds, holding a top speed of 236 kmph. It's impressive fuel system allows it to deliver a fuel consumption of 9.6 litre per 100 km.
2013-LOTUS EVORA S For KLFW 2013, a 'drive in style' event was held. The main attraction of the event was a Chrome Lotus Evora S which was designed especially for this fashion festival. The whole chrome featured body blinged like a star, throughout the event. Despite being a sports car, it manages to carry an elegant look. Under the hood, it carries a 3.5-litre V6 engine that is integrated with Lotus developed Dynamic Performance Management control. It delivers a maximum power of 350 PS at 7000 rpm along with a peak torque of 400 Nm at 4500 rpm. From a position of halt, it is able to reach an acceleration of 100 kmph in just 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 269 kmph. It's fuel injected and supercharged engine allows it to deliver a fuel economy of 9.7 litre per 100 km.
