KLIMS 2024: Perodua eMO-II EV concept debuts; Malaysia-born EV steps closer
KUALA LUMPUR: The highly-anticipated KLIMS 2024 event has officially begun in Kuala Lumpur, showcasing cutting-edge innovations and sustainable mobility solutions. Perodua has taken centre stage at the event by unveiling the eMO-II EV concept, marking the next evolution of its prototype battery electric vehicle.

The Perodua EV is expected to deliver a range of 400–410 km on a full charge.Unlike the eMO scale model previewed last year, the latest concept is a full-size show car; however, it is still made out of fibreglass. The automaker confirms that the first Perodua EV is still in the prototype stage and there are plenty of other features and improvements that will be added to the final production version.
Speaking of the Perodua eMO-II design, the concept EV features a bold and futuristic look with sharp angles and sleek curves. The front is kitted with a striking X-shaped front bumper, a distinctive wraparound windscreen, and flared fenders, complemented by gloss black accents. Adding to its aerodynamic styling are unique aero covers.
The EV also features songket-inspired elements like the lights and glass roof, along with a prominent roof spoiler, a sculpted tailgate, and 19-inch wheels.
The interior of the Perodua EV looks absolutely futuristic with sleek displays and a functional layout. It is finished in a stylish two-tone colour scheme and features a wraparound cockpit, a digital instrument panel, and modern touchscreens for controls.
While Perodua has not yet revealed the detailed specifications, it confirmed that the EV will be powered by a CATL-sourced LFP battery, offering a range of 400–410 km and a 0–100 kmph time of 6–7 seconds.
“This prototype is the continuation of our EV journey as we continue to build this technology from the ground up. eMO-II has been improved from its predecessor in terms of styling and features, and it’s now more defined as we chart our EV future,” said Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad.
Along with the EV concept, Perodua also introduced the new Ativa Fuze concept during the event. Interested folks can visit Perodua’s booth at KLIMS 2024 to experience what Malaysia's largest automaker has to offer in person.
